Upon arriving at Hulme Hippodrome, we scoped around our area, in order to find an acceptable angle for the first establishing shot. We found such an area within the mains stage, Callum and I looked at the shot list and then Callum placed the camera at an angle to which we deemed acceptable. I then began to shoot the first shot, then deciding that the lighting needed to be different, so I turned on the lighting on the main stage, this caused it to be clearer and of a higher resolution. We attempted to use the 180 degree rule in order to show off that we were more than capable of using different types of techniques. Then we began shooting, taking it in turn shot for shot, he did one then I followed afterwards doing a shot, doing it vice versa as time went on. Furthermore, we began to grow tired of using the same shots, so decided to go against our shot list and do some on the spot improvisation. Callum went to the top of the hippodrome and filmed an extreme long shot, then I went into one of the booths and filmed a high angle long shot from that area. We then proceeded and continued following the shot list, including shots wherever me or Callum saw fit, with both him and I adding in a few of our own from differes. Alfie had the ability to adapt and change to however we asked him, with him putting himself in the shoes of our anti-hero. We then went and looked around the hippodro
me, in order to see if we could find some cutaway shots that we could go to as a filler. Callum found different shots of dilapidated landscape, so took a shot of them, while I found different close ups shots of walls as well as the ceiling in order to show off how old and destroyed the area actually is. We finished the shot list and then I decided that we needed more shots, so we continued on shooting until both me and Callum were satisfied with what we had done. It was all about adding our own spin on to each shot as to not make it seem as though we had repeated the same shot repeatedly. Overall we finished all of our shots in the modern day scenes during the first shoot, with only the flashback needing to be redone as well as any re-shoots if there were to be any issues with the original shots that we had. This will provide useful during editing a
s then we could pick and choose what shots we though worked best in different positions.
